How to earn your Award Flight Discount

1. Spend $20,000 in a calendar year Make at least $20,000 in eligible purchases on your United Club Card between January 1 and December 31.

2. Earn a 10,000-mile award discount After reaching the $20,000 spending threshold, United will deposit a 10,000-mile award flight discount into your MileagePlus account.

3. Earn a second discount at $40,000 Reach $40,000 in total eligible purchases during the same calendar year to earn a second 10,000-mile award flight discount.

4. Apply the discount to an eligible award flight Use the discount when booking an eligible United or United Express award ticket with miles.

What you get

• A 10,000-mile discount after $20,000 in eligible calendar-year spending
• A second 10,000-mile discount after reaching $40,000 in eligible spending
• Up to 20,000 miles of award-flight discounts per calendar year
• Discounts are deposited directly into your MileagePlus account

Good to know

• This is a discount on the mileage price of an award ticket, not 10,000 bonus miles added to your account.
• The award ticket must require more than 10,000 miles before the discount is applied.
• The itinerary must include at least one United or United Express segment.
• Money + Miles bookings are not eligible.
• Each discount expires 12 months after it is issued.
• Unused award-flight discounts cannot be combined, transferred or extended.
• United says each discount generally posts within 6–8 weeks after reaching the spending requirement.
• Returns and refunds reduce your qualifying calendar-year spend.
