Citi's AAdvantage Executive card is now $695, with $600 in new credits to justify it

Citi and American Airlines have refreshed their top-tier cobrand, the AAdvantage Executive World Elite Mastercard, and renamed it the Executive World Legend. The annual fee rises from $595 to $695 for new applicants as of August 23, 2026. Existing cardholders who have held the card for more than a year will be notified in August or September, with the higher fee following at renewal.

In exchange, Citi has added two new calendar-year statement credits. The first is up to $500 toward eligible American Airlines Vacations packages and experiences. The second is $100 toward inflight purchases and eligible Admirals Club charges. The existing Lyft credit also grows from $120 to $180 a year, still structured as $15 per month after three rides in that month. The $120 Avis/Budget prepaid rental credit carries over unchanged.

Earning improves at the top end. Hotel and car rental bookings now earn 12x, up from 10x. The Loyalty Point bonuses that help cardholders reach AAdvantage status have doubled: 10,000 bonus Loyalty Points at each of the 50k, 90k, 165k and 240k milestones, for a maximum of 40,000 a year, where the old card capped out at 20,000.

Two partner perks are new. Cardmembers get Omni Select Guest Champion status, plus one free night after a paid stay of two or more nights booked directly on omnihotels.com. They also get Avis President's Club status, with enrollment open through August 31, 2028.

Admirals Club membership stays as it was: unlimited access for the primary cardholder with up to two guests or immediate family, on a same-day American or oneworld flight. Global Entry/TSA PreCheck reimbursement of $120 every four years and the free first checked bag for up to nine people on domestic AA flights are also unchanged.

There's one likely loss. View from the Wing's Gary Leff, quoted by One Mile at a Time, reports that the Grubhub credit is going away, immediately for new applicants and in a year for existing cardholders. Citi's own release doesn't mention it, so treat that as unconfirmed until it appears in the terms.

For tracking purposes, the two new credits and the Lyft credit all run on the calendar year, so a cardholder who signs up in the fall has until December 31 to use the first year's allotment. The Omni free night is triggered per stay rather than issued on a schedule, and the Avis President's Club enrollment deadline is the only hard date on the card that isn't a reset.

Whether $695 pencils out depends on the $500 vacations credit. If you'd book an American Airlines Vacations package anyway, the card is cheaper than it was. If not, you've paid $100 more for $100 of inflight snacks.
